I feel that every professor shouldn’t expect that their students know everything. I have one Spanish professor who is so motherly it scares me. She makes one feel bad when they haven’t study before a class, but I feel forgetting to study once for a class, it happens. And it is only human. So in saying this some professors can be overbearing. In contrast, this can be good for the students because it shows that one cares, and one wants you to prevail. Also, going to office hours gives you that extra support as well, and makes your professor feel supportive of you as well. My Spanish professor, she gives me extra material such as worksheets related to our class—to help me!!! She’s a good teacher. So I guess being motherly (fatherly) helps students in the end.
