More about you

What are your thoughts on how African American males are presented in the media? How does the media depiction of African American males affect you personally?

  1. My thought on African American men in the media, they are barely in the media for one. When they are in the media it’s for something negative. In contradicting myself, the black male race is slowly shifting away form their negative stereotypes (and becoming role models).

  2. Right now African Americans are represented 50% correctly and 50% incorrectly. Incorrectly being portrayed as low life uneducated thugs and boofoons, being unemployed, being portrayed as bad fathers and not always in their childs life, and setting bad examples for future young black males to live up to. That stererotype does not speak or represent every African American, because I know that I don't represent that image. Correctly is showcasing African Americans who are intelligent, employed working at good quality jobs, being strong fathers for their children, being loyal and trusted husbands and setting a standard, that all African-Americans can inspire to be someday. Thsy is an image that I want and will live up to, later in the future of my life.
